Spanish Heart Foundation

On March 6th 2024, the Spanish Heart Foundation, in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Cardiology, organised a conference on cardiovascular health in women.

The conference aimed at spreading social and medical awareness of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in women, the leading cause of death in women worldwide, also integrating the vision of women patients within the discourse. Furthermore, the conference aimed at addressing the inequity between men and women who are affected by cardiovascular diseases (CVDs); in fact, there is a a disparity of approach between men and women, which contributes to higher rates of readmission and cardiovascular mortality in women.

Irish Heart Foundation

The Irish Heart Foundation launched the Her Heart Matters campaign, which “encourages everyone who has a woman in their life – a sister, mother, friend – to talk to them about heart health, share the message and tips with them and empower them to make small, sustainable lifestyle changes for the good of their heart health.”

Data from 2022 in Ireland shows that 4,656 women died from cardiovascular disease – 27% of all female deaths. Experts say that for too long, heart disease in women has been grossly under-researched, under-diagnosed, and under-treated as it was wrongly seen as a ‘male disease’. Early detection and management of cardiovascular risk factors are essential if we are to improve women’s heart health and reduce early deaths in women.

Italian Heart Foundation

A statement from the Italian Heart Foundation:

Women’s heart is big…but more at risk!!

WOMEN are less aware that in reality THEY ARE MORE EXPOSED TO CARDIOVASCULAR RISK, especially with the arrival of menopause!

WOMEN also suffer more from INSOMNIA AND STRESS1, two co-factors that increase cardiovascular risk.

Every day, and today in particular, the Italian Heart Foundation is committed to activating a path of awareness dedicated above all to women, always attentive to taking care of others and perhaps a little less of themselves.

Healthy lifestyle, regular medical check-ups and adherence to therapies are important tools to keep the heart healthy.
