The European Heart Network (EHN) is delighted to announce that Birgit Beger will take over as Chief Executive Officer of the EHN on 1 August 2020.

Birgit is a well-respected, senior executive with more than 20 years of EU public policy experience. Previously, Birgit acted as Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) and CEO of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO).

Floris Italianer, President of EHN and CEO Dutch Heart Foundation said: “EHN’s vision is that every European has a right to a life free from avoidable cardiovascular disease, which is the number one cause of death in Europe. The Board and members of the EHN look forward to working with Birgit to realise our common vision.”

Birgit follows in the footsteps of the current CEO, Susanne Løgstrup. Says Floris Italianer “Susanne Løgstrup is retiring after 25 successful years leading the EHN. She has been instrumental in building this vision and engaging with European policy makers to develop policies contributing to the promotion of cardiovascular health and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. I would like to thank Susanne for the excellent work she has done.”
