MEP Heart Group – The Members of the European Parliament Heart Group is a forum which provides MEPs with an opportunity to generate dialogue, outreach and activities at EU and Member State level. It is made up of MEPs who have an interest in promoting measures that will help reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in Europe and raise CVD as a priority on the EU political agenda. The Secretariat of the MEP Heart Group is managed by the European Heart Network and the European Society of Cardiology.

On 28 June 2023, the MEP Heart Group, hosted a webinar on the consequences of and possible solutions for the shortage of medical devices for cardiovascular patients in the European Union (EU). This webinar was organised in collaboration with the European Heart Network (EHN) and hosted by MEP Heart Group Co-Chairs, MEP Brando Benifei (S&D, IT) and MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho (EPP, PT). A rich panel of speakers including policymakers, patient advocates, and trade associations led fruitful discussions on the future of cardiovascular health in Europe, pointing out the necessity to ensure the availability, accessibility and quality of medical devices for every cardiovascular patient.
