Brussels, 12 September 2024: The European Heart Network (EHN) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) have renewed their commitment to advancing cardiovascular health with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement builds on years of successful collaboration between the two organisations, aimed at improving cardiovascular health policies and practices across Europe.
Birgit Beger, CEO of the European Heart Network, said: “This MOU reaffirms our long-standing partnership with the ESC, further solidifying our joint efforts to prioritise cardiovascular health in Europe. Together, we are committed to ensuring that patients’ voices are heard, and that effective policies are in place to tackle the burden of cardiovascular disease.”
Jean-François Riffaud, CEO of the European Society of Cardiology, added : “The ESC aims to include patients in its activities across the society. Working with organisations like the European Heart Network (EHN) helps us achieve our goal of improved cardiovascular healthcare for all.”
With a focus on patient advocacy and joint initiatives, the MOU highlights key areas of cooperation, including the ongoing development of a European Cardiovascular Health Plan and enhanced patient engagement in ESC activities. By uniting efforts in research, education, and policy advocacy, EHN and ESC continue to lead the way in shaping the future of cardiovascular care across the continent.
Both organisations will work closely to influence EU health policies and promote cardiovascular health as a top priority for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patients alike.
