Save the date! EACH Summit “Vision to policy: Cardiovascular Health 12 months on” From 11 to 15 December in Strasbourg

The upcoming EACH Summit, “Vision to policy: Cardiovascular Health 12 months on” will take place from 11 to 14 December 2023 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. It represents a unique opportunity to discuss the need for a “cardiovascular health in all policies” approach and bring forward a cardiovascular health plan for the European Union (EU).

This in-person, public event is organized by the EACH Secretariat, headed by the European Heart Network (EHN), in collaboration with EACH partners, and is hosted by the MEP Heart Group.

The Summit will include:

• A public event at the European Parliament: it will feature a rich panel of speakers, including various MEPs and MEP Heart Group co-chairs, MEP Brando Benifei (S&D, IT) and MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho (EPP, PT).
• An exhibition on the third floor of the European Parliament: it will feature 27 posters with data on cardiovascular diseases (CVD) for each European Union (EU) member country.
• An EACH partners meeting.

The EACH Summit has a strong political mission; its main objectives are:

• Garner political support for an EU CV Health Plan.
• In view of the 2024 EU elections, gather political commitment from policymakers to include cardiovascular health in their election manifestos.
• Increase the awareness of the “cardiovascular health in all policies” approach.
• Bring together EACH leaders, and national representatives to facilitate outreach to policy-makers and Members of the European Parliament to consolidate and possibly extend support for an EU cardiovascular health Plan among MEPs. 

The EACH Summit will be a significant moment for EHN members to liaise with their national MEPs and discuss the state of cardiovascular health at the national level. We advise those who are interested in joining the summit to book their hotel accommodations well in advance, as that is usually a busy time in Strasbourg.
