From June till September 2016, the European Commission launched an open consultation on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive in the context of the REFIT programme. The reponse from the European Heart Network focuses on the aspect of marketing (advertising) of unhealthy foods to children, whereby EHN demands a watershed on advertising of HFSS foods (high in fat, sugar and salt) between 6am and 9pm.
EHN, in cooperation with Liverpool university, has also developed a position paper on marketing of unhealthy foods to children, which can be accessed via this link.
