EHN responded to the Targeted Stakeholders’ Consultation about EU4Health Annual Work Programme 2025.
This targeted consultation is intended to seek the opinion of stakeholders about current and future Union health priorities and strategic orientations and on key health needs to be addressed through the EU4Health Annual Work Programme 2025, providing inputs for reflection on the 2025 programme and beyond.
The European Heart Network (EHN) emphasises the importance of cardiovascular health in the EU4Health Annual Work Programme 2025. EHN advocates for robust prevention measures, including the promotion of healthy environments, reduction of unhealthy food and drink consumption, increased smoke-free policies, and alignment with WHO air quality guidelines. They stress the need for early detection of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks and enhanced patient involvement in policymaking and research. EHN calls for significant investment in cardiovascular research, improved access to innovative treatments and rehabilitation, and the adoption of a comprehensive EU cardiovascular health plan akin to the cancer plan, focusing on prevention, patient care, and tailored research initiatives.
