Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence for Personalised Risk Assessment in Chronic Heart Failure (AI4HF)

AI4HF is a 4-year Horizon Europe project that aims to co-design, develop, evaluate and exploit an integrative and trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) solution for personalised heart failure (HF) risk assessment. The largest-ever dataset of heart failure patients will be harnessed to develop the AI model which will be trained from complementary multi-source cardiovascular data, including cardiac imaging, cardiac biomarkers, electrocardiography and information from clinical reports. Based on the early prediction of a patient’s HF risk, AI4HF will provide personalised advice to patients on medication, diet, exercise, pacemakers and cardiac resynchronisation therapy. Coordinated by the Netherlands Heart Institute, this ground-breaking project is being carried out by 16 multidisciplinary partners worldwide, including EHN.

EHN will engage with consortium partners to support co-creation activities with patients throughout the life cycle of the project. Patients’ involvement in the design and development of the AI4HF tool is vital to ensure that the developed AI technology is trusted, approved and deployed in the real world for the benefit of patients and other end-users.
