In November, the European Heart Network (EHN), in collaboration with Eurocare, the Smoke Free Partnership, and the International Youth Health Organisation, launched the FILTERED social media campaign to expose the harmful influence of industries such as tobacco, alcohol, junk food, and fossil fuels on public health decision-making.
The campaign, which ran for three weeks primarily on LinkedIn, used creative animal metaphors and engaging visuals to highlight the strategies these industries employ to shape public health policies in their favour. From lobbying and spreading misinformation to promoting misleading corporate social responsibility initiatives, these industries are undermining efforts to protect public health across Europe.

To accompany the campaign, we’re excited to announce the launch of a new website: CanWeBeSeriousNow.org. This resource highlights the commercial determinants of health and provides EU policy-makers with recommendations to keep harmful industries out of public health decision-making.
As part of the FILTERED project, the campaign urges EU policy-makers to implement measures that ensure public health decisions are made free from the influence of industries that prioritise profit over people’s health. By addressing these commercial determinants, we strive to support policies that prioritise the health and well-being of all people across Europe.
