Job description
EHN is looking for a young dynamic professional who is motivated to work in an NGO in the area of cardiovascular health promotion and keen to work with a group of highly-skilled individuals from our member organisations. The successful candidate is an excellent communicator and will support the day-to-day operations of EHN’s internal activities and external communications. The Media and Communications Intern will contribute to EHN’s social media strategy, assist in editorial tasks, help with event organisation, and lead the implementation of EHN’s communication activities.
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and disseminate external communication materials that increase EHN’s visibility among its target groups and stakeholders (e.g. position papers, press releases, social media messages, event communications, etc.);
- Manage EHN’s website and e-newsletter and contribute to their content;
- Assist with drafting EHN’s communications strategy to support and promote EHN’s aim and objectives, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach;
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant EU journalists and reporters;
- Review EHN’s stakeholder mapping and identify further target audiences;
- Ensure all EHN communications are branded consistently;
- Follow and report on relevant EU cardiovascular health policy and research activities for EHN’s internal and external communications;
- Provide EHN staff with communication tips and instil a ‘communications mindset’ across the team;
- Advise the CEO of all communications-related aspects and carry out other tasks related to the main function as requested by the CEO.
Candidate profile
Education: University degree or education/training corresponding to the requirements listed above.
Experience, knowledge and skills required:
- University-level education (Master’s degree), preferably in communication, journalism, or marketing; the area of public health, humanistic or European studies would be a plus.
- Maximum 1 year of work experience
- Work experience in communication and/or journalism necessary; experience at an NGO or international organisation is an asset.
- Experience/familiarity with digital tools and social media work;
- Knowledge of and possible experience with EU legislation and procedures;
- Fluent oral and written communication in English, a good level of other European languages (FR, IT, ES, DE) would be ideal for communication;
- Able to work effectively in a small team
- Flexibility and willingness to assist as needs arise
- Able to work independently and eager to learn about cardiovascular health
Internship details
- Full-time position
- Workplace: Office in Brussels, Belgium/Teleworking depending on the respective health/employment regulation applicable
- Minimum duration internship 6 months, possibility to extended, but no longer than 12 months in total.
- Remuneration: Internship contract under the Belgian Convention d’immersion professionnelle (CIP framework) with a compensation of 829.20 euros/month.
- Gain professional experience in a small dynamic team and a multicultural environment.
- Starting date: as soon as possible
